La Maison Ames is a four bedroom villa with pool, close to Barjac in the Languedoc Roussillon region. We are surrounded by lavender fields and vineyards and many wild flowers grow in the garden alongside rosemary, thyme and sage. There is a tennis court in the hamlet, table tennis in the villa and BBQ pit & boules pitch in the acre garden. Dining outside and watching the sun set over the Cevenne mountains 30klms away on the horizon is magical.

Erick Vedel was born and raised in Arles. Impassioned by the richness of his region, he has devoted himself to bringing the forgotten delicacies of his native cuisine to light. He has gathered over 1000 recipes ranging from the dishes favoured by the ancient Romans, to the specialties of the 19th Century. Erick has been teaching his recipes and his culinary know-how since 1995, first through videos, then in his own kitchen in Arles. Madeleine Vedel an American is fluent in English, French and Japanese, & a tiny smattering of Italian. Twice a featured speaker with Erick at the International Association of Culinary Professionals'. During the low season we offer special 2 night Gourmet Weekends in Calvados. Each evening we offer a 5-course candlelit dinner including canapés, aperitif, wine and coffee. One evening the emphasis will be on seasonal foods, the best the local farms and markets have to offer. The other evening, the emphasis will be on the specialities of the Calvados region and its traditional dishes. In the morning you can enjoy a gourmet Continental breakfast – fresh pastries, home made jams, fresh juices etc. On Sunday morning there is the opportunity to visit the market in Caen (over 300 stalls and the largest in Normandy) and the chance to take home some French goodies.
