Here you will discover a world that time appears to have passed by, sleepy villages, ruined fortresses, the Black Mountain to the north, the Pyrenees to the south and the Mediterranean to the east. Domaine de Beragne was once a wine domaine and dates back several hundred years. Our Gîte, La Petite Maison, sits across the courtyard from the main house. We have an indoor swimming pool, which guests will have access to and also our private walled garden where you can relax and enjoy a glass of wine at the end of a day spent exploring the local area.

If you walk, cycle, paint, play golf or have a passion to explore the many vineyards and taste the difference between Corbiere, Minervois, Fitou or Cabardes. Then you will find all that you want here! Domaine de Beragne is situated in the small town of Trebes some 5kms from the acclaimed Unesco World Heritage site of la Cité in Carcassonne and only 0.5kms from the Canal de Midi also a world heritage site. Trebes dates back to Roman times and has both the river Aude and the Canal du Midi flowing through it. It also boasts a small harbour for the many pleasure craft that sail up and down the Canal du Midi. Trebes has all the facilities that self-catering requires, restaurants, bars, cafés and three supermarkets together with a myriad of local shops.

Accommodation
The self-catering accommodation is tastefully furnished and consists of an open plan living/dining area with a fitted kitchen. Two double bedrooms (one with king-size bed) and large shower room and toilet. All rooms have heating and a log burning stove is the feature of the main living area. A television and DVD player together with a radio are provided.

Our house is really not suitable for children under 16 years. We have cats and a dog of our own and for this reason we do not accept pets.

The local area

Trebes is ideally situated for whichever mode of transport you use. Carcassonne airport is 15 minutes away, Toulouse and Perpignan airports are approximately one hours drive. The A61 motorway is 2 kms away. The Spanish border is just 70 minutes and a further 25 minutes takes you to Figueres. For those who fancy a day in Barcelona this is only 3 hours drive. There is also a train station in Carcassonne if a train journey is your preference. This infrastructure makes Trebes an ideal centre for exploring this magical area.
Whether it’s relaxation or exploring the Aude can provide you with your ideal. Visit to la Cite` and explore the ancient streets and relive the history and magic that surrounds this mystical castle, just close your eyes and imagine how life was all those hundreds of years ago.

.or did he? Numerous books have been written, many theories expounded on how this poor priest became to be so wealthy and able to `hobnob` with the `Royalty` of the day. In Dan Brown`s Da Vinci Code Sauniere was the name of the curator of the Louvre. More recently Kate Mosse has written the Labyrinth a story that has its plot set in and around Carcassonne.
Go on a guided magical tour of the largest wine growing area in the world and discover the many gems of the Corbiere, Minervois, Cabardes, Fitou, Malepere and not forgetting the sparkling blanquette (the forerunner of Champagne) produced in Limoux since 1531.

and you have all the time in the World to enjoy.
If it’s sea you want then a 40-minute drive will take you to clean, wide, safe beaches. You have a wide choice either heading north along the coast towards Sete or south towards Coulliere. Between these two places you have many resorts and villages to explore, inland salt-water lakes were you can get fresh shell fish from the many seaside restaurants.
If your penchant is for big cities then why not hop a train to Toulouse just one hour away here you can take in some of the fine architecture, the boulevards and the squares. Toulouse is the headquarters of Airbus and you can take a choice of organised tours around the factory including the new Giant Airbus the A380, which is due to come into service during 2007. Toulouse is also known as the European space capital here you can visit the Cité de l`Espace centre and see the Ariane rockets that take the European satellites into space.
Interests

All kinds of interests can be found in and around Carcassonne such as, cycling, walking, rock climbing, kayaking, caves, golf and numerous Cathare castles. If you want to brush up your painting skills or perhaps you’ve always hankered to learn a new skill then lessons can be arranged with local artists for a nominal fee.

Visits to this region wouldn’t be complete without sampling the wondrous array of wines that this region of France produces and guided visits can be arranged to some of the quality vingerons in the region. Languedoc Roussillon is the largest wine producing area in the world and wines have been produced since Roman times, once renowned for producing `vin ordinaire` the Languedoc now produces some of the best quality wines in all of France. A wine produced locally recently won a blind tasting of 9000 wines from around the world. Again wine tours can be arranged for a nominal fee.

Festivals & Fetes

France is renowned for its festivals and fetes and this area is no exception. Throughout the year this area can boast at least one event per week culminating in the summer months to one every day. Fetes such as Fete de cerise, oignon, couchon, foie gras, jazz, samba festival, water jousting and not forgetting the various wine fetes.

Carcassonne also has its world famous Festival in July where each day international artists entertain you from ballet to rock concerts. On the 14thJuly Bastille Day the Cite` is set on fire in a truly spectacular scene re-enacting the `l`embrasement de la Cite. This firework display is reputed to be the best outside of Paris celebrating Bastille Day, and Carcassonne and the banks of the Aude are swelled with over 500,000 happy visitors.

During August you will find many free concerts and shows in and around Carcassonne. Everyday and during the last week of August the town celebrates Spanish Fiesta week, with tapas, flamenco and even bull fighting.

Prices shown are per week but daily rates can be quoted if requested

We offer both short and long stays with no restrictions such as Saturday only arrivals.
